Garnite plastic products were originally manufactured in Spotswood, Victoria, by Australian Consolidated Industries Limited (A.C.I.) from 1939. Manufacturing later extended to other locations. Household and kitchenware were manufactured from 1939 to around 1962, although other products such as Garnite pipes were made for a longer period. Garnite was originally named after a director of A.C.I., Mr S.G. Garnsworthy.
